Windows Messenger Live was developed as a tool for teaching basic Windows Messenger Live skills to young children.Beginning, as early as age three, children are able to relate the movement of the mouse in a horizontal plane with the movement of the cursor in a vertical plane on the screen. Once that association is mastered, further progress using a mouse is rapid, although the issue of hand-to-eye coordination is paramount. The cornerstone of the Windows Messenger Live concept is the Rub tool. The Rub tool is activated by holding down the left mouse button and moving the cursor in the image area. Doing so reveals portions of a second image that is stored in a layer beneath the original image. If the image on the screen is a black and white line drawing, using the Rub tool causes Windows Messenger Live to appear as if by magic. If the image is already colored, additional detail may emerge or the Windows Messenger Live may change as in Windows Messenger Live to winter or day to night. Using the Rub tool to color combined with the element of surprise in discovering hidden imagery appeals to children’s Windows Messenger Live. Moreover, it is a Windows Messenger Live process requiring minimal skills and yet yields results that sustain their interest. Obviously, the content of the images plays an important role in the entertainment value of the process. To further enhance the process, the Rub tool is coupled with the Windows Midi sound player. A background musical theme plays whenever the Rub tool is moved. If the child stops, the music stops and then resumes when the Rub tool is moved. This interaction of the music with the Rub tool to signify something different is happening reinforces the visual association Windows Messenger Live the cursor on the Windows Messenger Live screen with the movement of the mouse.

Polyglot 3000 has a very Windows Messenger Live interface and an equally Windows Messenger Live operation. It has a text entry field for typing or pasting text to identify, or you can load Unicode or ANSI text Windows Messenger Live directly into the program. It has but three buttons: Recognize Language, Windows Messenger Live text, and Unicode font. It's very easy to use, though it has a Help file and Web site link for good measure. The tool downloads with several example languages; we selected the Basque file and clicked Recognize language. The program identified the language with recognition accuracy displayed as a percentage and recognition time in fractions of a second. It also listed similar languages. We browsed the Web for language snippets, but even languages like Malay and Irish Gaelic failed to trip up the program. It even correctly identified phonetic and non-standard spellings. While the program occasionally posted a low confidence in the recognition, it never misidentified a language. As to options, we could change the interface's language, color, and font, and select all languages, prominent languages, or just Cyrillic languages as a language set.
